The Jakob Manz Project won first prize at the "future sounds" 2018 of the Leverkusen Jazz Days, in April 2018 the band received a first prize and the audience award at the international "Jazz Prize Biberach 2018". Band leader Jakob Manz played with musicians such as Randy Brecker, Ack Van Rooyen and Wolfgang Dauner. At the age of 16 he was admitted to the Federal Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO), with whom he performed in concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Cologne Philharmonic Orchestra or in the Gasteig Munich as well as in various countries (including USA, Canada, Albania, Netherlands) occurred.
In the Jakob Manz Project, the young saxophonist gathers excellent musicians around him: Paul Albrecht works his skin and metal like a sly old master, to whom the gods gave all the energy of the youth for just one evening. His playing triggers incredulous amazement among a wide variety of audiences. With enormous versatility and an open ear, pianist Hannes Stollsteimer penetrates the lively, rousing saxophone solos in perfect moments - sometimes with ultra-hard, fast radio reefs, sometimes with sparingly dosed kicks, sometimes with connecting creamy transitions. As a soloist, he takes his well-thought-out game to the extreme. Frieder Klein's electric bass radiates with every tone the steadfastness of a geological time dimension, regardless of whether his fingers hit the strings furiously or irritatingly slowly to grab. His specialty is rhythmically tricky, raging lines of astonishing melodiousness.
The musical personalities merge in the Jakob Manz Project to form a unique band sound that takes on new colors again and again through mutual inspiration and creative interplay. The band's energy is transferred to the audience in a very direct and emotional way. The listener experiences the depths of modern groove and soul music as well as the magical and calm flow of current jazz: a dynamic and energetic evening that is not easily forgotten.
