Art lives from change, it reacts to changes in values and social upheavals. These are, for example, new viewing and experience habits due to increasing digitalization and increased mobility in the search for cultural experiences, including the appropriate infrastructure. At the same time, more and more educational offers for children and young people are disappearing from the curricula and agendas of public institutions. Here, dealing with culture is an important part of personal development.
We react to this because our cultural commitment should be geared towards people and their cultural needs as well as talented young artists, not past them.
With the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, we are releasing ourselves from the previous framework of guest performances and thus from the classic season (September to June). Instead, we are initiating a stART festival in the spring months (beginning in spring 2021), which in the future will focus on an exciting and innovative offer - detached from the classic concept of a sector.
Our presale for the events of our new festival will start in autumn 2020 (November), and you will receive information about the innovations and the program from late summer on our website.
Further changes in our targeting will be: Strengthening our support program stARTacademy, intensification of partnerships (such as the increased commitment to the Leverkusen jazz days recently), expansion of funding with a focus on content, integration of other Bayer locations as cultural locations, focus on our formats in the field of cultural education.
We want more dialogue, more curiosity. Together, respectfully, openly and sustainably, we imagine the stART Festival. And we look forward to the new cultural paths we are treading and hope that you will continue to accompany us on these paths.
