Olivia Trummer’s first Italian tour was a turning point and key moment in her career. As she was playing with a trio at the Panorama Music Festival in August 2016, musical sparks flew under the shadow of a South Tyrolean peak. Her encounter with the Italian jazz musicians felt like a sort of homecoming. The region’s deep-rooted sense for melody and beauty took Trummer’s breath away, and the lightness and the noticeable joie de vivre instantly affected her and left her wanting more. The pianist and singer has since continued to expand her musical connections to the Italian jazz scene, with subsequent tours, new compositions and projects. Bayer Arts & Culture is now giving her the opportunity to present her musical harvest in Leverkusen for the first time, ripened under the Italian sun.
