Jacques Offenbach: Overture and Duet “Es ist ein Traum” from “Die schöne Helena”
Franz von Suppè: Overture to “Die schöne Galathée” and “Lied des Boccaccio” from “Boccaccio” Franz Lehar: “Meine Lippen sie küssen” from “Giuditta” and “Da geh ich ins Maxim” from “Die lustige Witwe”
    And other selections

    Soprano: Eleonore Marguerre
    Tenor: Matthias Koziorowski
    Conductor and host: Bernhard Steiner

Fans of classic New Year’s concerts won’t be disappointed: Bernhard Steiner has put together a lively program in the spirit of Johann Nestroy’s celebrated quotation: “It’s all an illusion, but it entertains me” (“Es is’ alles Chimäre, aber mich unterhalt’s”). He will also serve as host. “Schemes and Dreams at the Opera” also offers a last chance to recognize the 200th birthdays of composers Jacques Offenbach and Franz von Suppè, which occurred in 2019. Fall in love with the beautiful Galathée and Helena, follow the merry widow to the Maxim, and meet the poor journeyman from “Der Vetter aus Dingsda.” Soprano Eleonore Marguerre and tenor Matthias Koziorowski will perform the singing roles, bringing the schemes and dreams of opera and operetta to life. The onstage illusions notwithstanding, our wish to you for a happy new year is very real.

A New Year’s Eve concert with the same program will take place at the Forum Leverkusen on December 31.
