For the world-famous pianist Fazil Say, music can be a catalyst for social change – not only in his home country, Turkey – and it can also encourage dialogue and structural transformation. He recently received a fourth "ECHO Klassik" award for his recording of all the Mozart sonatas.
Fazil Say is likewise renowned as a composer. His works create a cultural bridge between East and West. He was appointed as an EU cultural ambassador in 2008, and he received the Beethoven Prize for Human Rights in 2016. So it is hardly surprising that he put together a program pairing one of his own compositions with that of his favorite composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and also Ludwig van Beethoven. The year 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth.
