William Shakespeare is one of the most performed and filmed authors in world literature. His Midsummer Night’s Dream is a magical, tragicomic love story set in an enchanted forest that becomes a game of identity and feelings stopping for nothing and no one. – Austrian writer Franzobel presents a condensed interpretation of Midsummer Night’s Dream, simultaneously playing with the confusion of love and intrigue while unfurling an unvarnished and timeless critique of patriarchal marriage and power relationships. Dominique Horwitz, who has been a welcome guest at the Erholungshaus over the past two decades, makes this Midsummer Night’s Dream an extraordinary experience. Music is provided by the renowned Arte Ensemble, which is featured regularly in major concert series and at festivals like the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Heidelberger Frühling, and the Musik-Festival Stuttgart.
A conversation with Dominique Horwitz will follow the performance.
