Few companies can look back on such a long cultural tradition as Bayer AG. It all began around the turn of the last century, when Bayer’s founding fathers set up social, sports and cultural facilities to improve their workers’ quality of life. The company’s economic and cultural development subsequently played a key role in the founding of the city of Leverkusen.

Valuable contribution

Five managers have headed Bayer Arts & Culture during the course of these hundred years, each of them shaping the department’s cultural work in accordance with their respective era. The profile that evolved through this continuity is part of the cultural landscape of North Rhine-Westphalia and is the envy of many other companies. In keeping with our self-image as a global company, we have also been cooperating for many years with numerous Bayer sites around the world, adding an international dimension to our local and regional cultural activities. This not only enriches cultural life here in Germany, but also enhances Bayer’s prestige abroad. In this way, Bayer's cultural activities make an important contribution to the company's image-building efforts.
