Open day 2010
Having started off the season in style, we plan to end it with a flourish as well, and so we are inviting you and all your family to come and celebrate the end of the 2009/10 season with us at an open day in the Erholungshaus, Bayer AG’s cultural venue. Like last year, there will be performances on the main stage throughout the day, guided tours of the theatre, comedy on the small stage in the Kulisse bistro, theatre, music and art activities for children and lots more. Why not come along and see!

UNEP children’s painting competition
Bayer and UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme, jointly sponsor an annual international painting competition in which children aged between six and 14 are invited to give visual expression to their opinions, hopes and fears concerning planet Earth. 15,000 children from almost 100 countries took part last year. The theme for 2009 is: Climate Change: Our Challenge.
2010 Bayer art calendar
The 2010 edition of the popular Bayer art calendar features highlights from the Bayer Collection which formed part of the “Insight II” exhibition in the Erholungshaus in 2008. We are sure you will enjoy the 12 works we have selected, which include prints of oil paintings by Max Beckmann, Ernst-Wilhelm Nay, Bernard Schultze and Gerhard Richter (above).
Bayer’s cultural ensembles
The artistic activities of Bayer employees are wide and varied, ranging from instrumental music, choral music and drama to photography. There are a total of 17 clubs and ensembles at Bayer’s sites in Leverkusen, Wuppertal, Dormagen and Krefeld where both Bayer employees and outsiders can develop their talents. Supporting the clubs and ensembles is an important aspect of Bayer AG’s social commitment. Of the eight cultural associations at the Leverkusen site, three – the Bayer Philharmonic Orchestra, the Male Voice Choir and the Bayer Wind Orchestra – have histories spanning more than a century. Concerts by the Leverkusen ensembles are an established part of the town’s cultural life. Thanks to numerous concert tours, the Leverkusen orchestras and choirs are known far beyond Germany’s borders. Information:

Bayer Artothek
Bayer Arts & Culture is responsible for looking after the art possessions of Bayer AG, which comprise around 5,500 works of art from the 20th century, including paintings, drawings, graphic art and sculptures by both international and regional artists. The works which make up the Bayer Collection are intended solely for display in prominent locations, while the Bayer Artothek offers a special service to company employees: They can make an appointment to view a selection of works from the company’s collection, find out about the works and the artists and borrow originals for their office. This “art at the workplace” service is very popular with employees.Contact and appointments:
