Employees create culture
Ensembles and Clubs at Bayer
What with instrumental music, choral music, drama and photography, the artistic activities of Bayer employees are wide and varied. They are active in 17 clubs and ensembles at Bayer locations in Leverkusen, Elberfeld, Dormagen and Krefeld. Some of the ensembles have already been around for 100 years.
The story of Bayer's cultural societies got off to a musical start - with the Bayer Leverkusen Wind Orchestra. In 1900 eleven employees at the Bayer works in Wiesdorf, Leverkusen, joined forces to play music together. Four years later 14 string players formed the Philharmonic Works Orchestra. These longstanding clubs survive to this day. The works orchestra became the Bayer Philharmonic Orchestra with high-class concerts that feature prominently in the Bayer cultural department’s program. The Bayer Philharmonic Orchestra also make guest appearances at Bayer locations in other countries.
