Stimuli for creativity
Sponsoring and shaping culture
Culture has been an integral part of social commitment at Bayer since 1907. The company’s Cultural Affairs Department provides a wide-ranging and high-quality programme of music, drama, dance and the fine arts.
As early as the end of the 19th century, Dr. Carl Duisberg, who was later to become Managing Director of Bayer, realized that it takes more than just financial capital to ensure the success of a company. It was he who laid the foundations for the cultural work which has been an integral part of Bayer's social commitment since 1907 and which is based on the principle that access to culture encourages qualities that are important at work, such as creativity, an interest in new ideas and a willingness to embrace the unfamiliar. Bayer’s cultural work today is aimed not only at the company’s employees, but also seeks to enrich cultural life at the company’s locations in Germany and in other countries.
A Multi-Faceted Program
Bayer's commitment to culture includes a varied and ambitious seasonal programme. Year after year the company’s Cultural Affairs Department holds around 120 events in the areas of music, theatre, dance and the fine arts. At its sites in Leverkusen, Wuppertal, Dormagen and Krefeld Bayer also supports clubs and ensembles in which employees can cultivate their artistic talents. Bayer’s cultural work is not limited to Germany. Bayer companies around the world sponsor a large number of cultural projects in their respective countries.
