Bayer Choir Wuppertal
The Bayer Choir Wuppertal is a male voice choir focused on international folk music as well as sacred and classical works. The choir has around 60 members at present. Twice a year, they give large concerts in Wuppertal with well-known soloists and orchestras. In addition, the choir regularly sings at social institutions and at many other events. The singers have already undertaken numerous concert tours all over the world.

History

The choir, originally known as the "Choral Society of Farbenfabriken Bayer's Elberfeld Works", was founded on July 3, 1902. In 1969 it was renamed the "Bayer Choir Wuppertal".

Since 1963, the choir master has been Gus Anton, a noted arranger, composer and publisher of numerous choral and orchestral works. From 1974 till 2006 Anton was in charge of cultural affairs in the town of Gummersbach and the director of the local theatre and he still conducts several well-known choirs in the Bergisches Land region. Many of his choral compositions are included in Bayer Choir Wuppertal's standard repertoire.
