Knechtsteden Basilika

The Basilica of St. Maria and St. Andreas with its monumental interior is one of the most important Romanesque buildings on the Lower Rhine and a popular place of pilgrimage. Bayer Arts & Culture uses the church building in Dormagen as a venue for classical concerts.

Knechtsteden monastery church has retained its medieval character even though it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries.

Around 30 members of a Catholic missionary society live in the main building. Many events are held in the church every year. Bayer Arts & Culture holds concerts in the basilica.
