Knechtsteden Basilika

The Basilica of St. Maria and St. Andreas with its monumental interior is one of the most important Romanesque buildings on the Lower Rhine and a popular place of pilgrimage. The Bayer Cultural Affairs Department uses the church building in Dormagen as a venue for classical concerts.

Knechtsteden monastery church has retained its medieval character even though it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The Basilica of St. Maria and St. Andreas with its monumental interior is one of the most important Romanesque buildings on the Lower Rhine and a popular place of pilgrimage. Around 30 members of a Catholic missionary society live in the main building. Many events are held in the church every year. The Bayer Cultural Affairs Department holds concerts in the basilica.
