Bayer supporting ‘Haus der Kulturen der Welt’ in Berlin

As part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Cultural Affairs Department, the Group is now also committing to promoting the arts in the capital: from August 21, Bayer is partnering with ‘Haus der Kulturen der Welt’ (HKW). The company is funding the “New York” exhibition.

“We now also have a strong foothold in Berlin with Bayer Schering Pharma. This shifts the cultural capital of our country into our focus,” explains Werner Wenning, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG. “Committing ourselves to the arts in the capital is very much in line with our understanding of social responsibility,” Wenning adds.

“A cultural institution”
'Dr. Ulrich Köstlin, member of the Board of Management of Bayer Schering Pharma AG, welcomes the fact that the Group is building a cultural bridge to Berlin: “An internationally successful company such as Bayer Schering Pharma is driven by getting impetus from many different sources. This keeps it moving and boosts its innovative potential – Berlin is a highly motivating environment to accomplish just that. ‘Haus der Kulturen der Welt’ is a key factor. It’s a cultural institution in the capital, has international reach and is highly reputed.”

Transatlantic communication

Until only recently HKW was in the midst of renovation work. After reopening, the cultural centre is now home to the “New York” exhibition. Bayer is partnering with this event which highlights how art, music and film cover the many identities of the U.S. metropolis. “Our Group has a global focus and is therefore communicating with a number of countries. Cooperating with HKW is not only going to be pushing visitors to reflect about other cultures but is going to make us do the same,” explains Werner Wenning.
